Note from the President- It was great fun getting to see everybody and spend time reacquainting ourselves with each other at the February meeting. Nobody has offered to step-in to take over the Presidency, so Glen will stay in the position for another two-year term.
Cathy Clark has volunteered to host the June Garden Tour. Thank you Cathy! We have only one garden for the August Tour which is on Reid Rd in Flint. If you know of another garden in that area that we could visit, please share that information with Glen.
Mick Hodgson died on February 24, 2024. Mick and Cathy were original members of EMHS and rarely missed a meeting. Their gardens were on many EMHS tours and were featured in a gardening magazine a few years ago. No arrangements have been made at this time. Please keep Cathy and their children in your thoughts.
We also want to keep the family of Betty Valentine in our thoughts. Betty was a long-time member of EMHS and she passed away on February 13th, 2024. Those of us fortunate enough to have known Betty will definitely miss her smiling face and her beautiful gardens.

We vote on the previous months Minutes at the meeting and it is your responsibility to read them prior to the meeting. They are listed under the heading “From the Desk of the Secretary/Treasurer”.
The EMHS Plant Sale is listed on the website. You can turn in your order (with full payment) to Pat Maitland at the meeting or mail it to Glen. All plants will be delivered at the May meeting. If you are unable to be at that meeting to get your plants, please call and make arrangements for a friend to pick them up for you.
Saturday February 24th was the last day to register for this year’s Hosta College in Piqua, OH. There were 48 classes to choose from (you choose 5 to attend) and registration is only $50.00. We have a number of people from attending this year and we always have a great time at the classes and at the after parties at the hotel. Most of us will be staying at the Comfort Inn Piqua. If you have never attended Hosta College, please consider doing so next year.
We hope to see you at our April 11th, 2024 meeting. Be prepared to turn in your Plant Sale order (with full payment) to Glen. Also be prepared to pay your annual dues to Marlene. There is an updated Directory at the sign-in desk at every meeting. Please check your membership date listed to see if you need to pay dues. Dues this year have been raised to $10/yr/household per the EMHS Board Meeting held in November 2023.

Next Meeting- April 11, 2024 at 5:00 PM at the Mayfield Twp. Hall, 1900 N. Saginaw, Lapeer, MI 48446. This is our regular meeting place located just south of the point of M-24 and N. Saginaw, (the driveway just north of the Cemetery).
Glen will present “Hellebores”. This was a requested topic because we have two Hellebores in the Plant Sale this year.
We will be having a potluck, so bring your favorite dish to pass and plan to have a good time with your EMHS Friends.
