February Update
Eastern Michigan Hosta Society
February 2024
Dear EMHS Members & Friends,
Our first meeting of 2024 is February 08, 2024 at the Mayfield Twp. Hall, 1900 N. Saginaw, Lapeer, MI 48446. This is our regular meeting place located just south of the point of M-24 and N. Saginaw, (the driveway just north of the Cemetery).
At this meeting we will have a “Getting Reacquainted” get-together. We did this last year and it was nice to have time to discuss what plans are made for the club, try to get tour site volunteers, pay annual dues, and place orders for the annual Plant Sale with Cathy Hodgson.
We will be having a potluck, so bring your favorite dish to pass and plan to have a good time with your EMHS Friends.
The time schedule for the meeting is;
5:00- Doors Open/Networking
6:00- Potluck
7:00- Business Meeting

Hi hosta friends,
Greetings! We hope you all are enjoying a relaxing winter season in anticipation for a wonderful spring in the garden. The West Michigan Hosta Society officers have been hard at work to plan many fun activities this year. To kick it off, we have our first meeting on Sunday, February 18th at Brann's Steakhouse & Grille at 1:30pm.
This is an event you will not want to miss! You can choose from four mouth-watering menu options: an 8 oz. sizzler, smothered BBQ chicken, fall-off-the-bones ribs, or shrimp skewers. The dinner is about $24.00/person, but the club is subsidizing the cost and you pay just $15.00. Non-members $20/person. That's a deal too good to pass up!
Then after a scrumptious dinner, sit back and relax while Olga Petrysyzn shares a presentation about hostas. Olga has been growing and hybridizing hostas forever. Some of her better known introductions are 'Niagara Falls', 'Coast to Coast', 'Manhattan', 'Key West', and 'Hoosier Dome'.
Finally, we will be drawing scholarships for Hosta College and the AHS National Convention this summer. You must be present to win!
DO NOT DELAY. SEATING IS LIMITED. FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED!
Fill out the attached RSVP and send to Kay Anderson, 10338 Rich St. Pvt., West Olive, MI 49460.
See you there!
