January 2025 Newsletter
Note from the President- As most of you already know, I had to have Urgent/Emergent neck surgery on December 10th and I was unable to attend our Annual Christmas Party. I am doing okay post-surgery and have to follow activity restrictions which is not an easy task for me. No shoveling snow, vacuuming the house, loading the dishwasher, no lifting, pulling, or pushing more than 10 pounds, extreme care to not fall, wear a Miami-J neck brace when out in public, and the list goes on. I am trying to be a good patient, but I am not the type of person to sit and do nothing. So, a January EMHS Newsletter will be posted to our website.
It has been brought to my attention that there are numerous signs in the kitchen at the Mayfield Twp. Hall that we have to cover all tables used at the Hall when we have food. So, from now on all tables will be covered with plastic runner for our potluck meetings.
We were hoping to have the capability for a ZOOM presentation for the April 10th meeting with Bob Iiames from Ohio. So far we have not been able to access the capability of having this meeting by ZOOM. We will keep working on it, but we may be paying Bob’s travel and lodging fees as the Club in Ohio did when I spoke there last fall.
We also have Esther Benedict coming (May) to do a Presentation on Building a Crevice Trough Garden. Esther will be bringing plants to sell at the meeting so be sure to bring cash for an early spring plant buying fix.
Our last speaker of the 2025 Spring season (June) will be Dr. Susan Haddock from the American Primrose Society. Susan will be showing us how easy it is to grow a number of different Primrose species in our gardens. Please note that this meeting will be at the Mayfield Twp Hall.
We still need Summer Garden Tour Hosts to volunteer for this year. The Garden Tours this year will be in July and August. We would prefer to have a minimum of two gardens in close proximity to each other for each of the tours. If you are willing to share your garden with us and a have neighbor with an interesting garden, that would work out perfect.
Our next meeting is on February 13th, 2025. The meeting will be a potluck and discussion of the year’s plans, tour volunteer sign-up, paying dues, catching up with each other, etc. Since I do post our Membership Directory on our website, I have to send it to each member individually from my phone. If you do not receive an email directly from Pace Gardens, please let me know and I will send a copy to you.
**If you want to be listed as a Member selling Plants, please be sure to keep your dues current.
Sincerely,
Glen Pace
EMHS President
Next Meeting- February 13, 2025 at the Mayfield Twp. Hall, 1900 N. Saginaw, Lapeer, MI 48446. This is our regular meeting place located just south of the point of M-24 and N. Saginaw, (the driveway just north of the Cemetery).

Don’t forget this meeting is the first Potluck of the year. The club will supply plates, flatware, and napkins. Please bring your favorite dish to pass.
